The New York Public Library is seeking a skilled Porter to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our library users and employees. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep of our buildings and grounds.
Responsibilities- Clean and maintain all assigned areas, including floors, furniture, and equipment
- Operate cleaning equipment and use chemicals and disinfectants safely and effectively
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and parking areas
- Transport trash and recyclables to disposal areas
- Assist with special events and functions by setting up and removing furniture and equipment
- Perform other duties as required to maintain a safe and clean environment
- High school diploma or equivalent and prior custodial experience
- Knowledge of janitorial methods, materials, and equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week in a public service library setting. The successful candidate will be required to pass a physical examination and work in a variety of environments, including ladders and manlifts.
