Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Community Risk Reduction Strategies: Determine fire and life safety educational priorities, goals, and objectives, and allocate resources accordingly.
- Supervise Staff and Plan Training: Supervise staff, plan, train, and instruct fire safety programs.
- Prepare and Administer Budgets: Prepare and administer budgets, create and maintain collaborative fire and life safety education partnerships with state and community organizations/agencies.
- Perform Related Clerical/Administrative Tasks: Perform related clerical/administrative tasks such as preparing periodic employee performance evaluations, setting up and maintaining record systems, gathering information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for the area of responsibility, or performing data entry.
- Education and Experience: Requires a high school diploma or GED Equivalent. Two-year fire science, early childhood education, or related degree acceptable; bachelor's degree or higher preferred. Four years of related experience, including extensive experience in educational methods, experience in Community Risk Reduction Programs, and supervisory experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A working knowledge of educational methodology, a comprehensive understanding of the fire service and its role in the community, and an understanding of fire service management policies and procedures. Effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively observe and evaluate the work of others.
