Job SummaryThe YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Junior Lifeguard to join our team. As a Junior Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere in our aquatic facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Active Surveillance: Maintain active surveillance of the pool area to ensure the safety of all patrons.
- Emergency Response: Know and review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
- Safety Rules and Guidelines: Know, understand, and consistently support safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
- Equipment Maintenance: Support equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Pool Inspection: Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
- Chemical Testing: Perform chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and take appropriate action.
- Age Requirement: Minimum age of 15.
- Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration.
- Lifeguard Certification: Current Lifeguard Certification.
- Additional Trainings: Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
- Lifeguard Skills: Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Physical Demands: Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard.
- Auditory and Visual Requirements: Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
- Alertness: Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
- Visual Observation: See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including Criminal Record check, Drug Screening and motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company policy.
- Eligibility to Work: Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
