KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform data analysis, gather information, and produce technical documentation for environmental assessments to support engineering and architectural projects.
  • Collaborate on strategies for grant and loan proposals, assisting in the preparation, organization, and submission of documents to funding organizations.
  • Manage existing grants and loans by monitoring project developments, preparing internal and external reports, maintaining historical records, and working with team members to ensure compliance with funding program requirements.
  • Monitor trends and changes in federal, state, and local government policies related to project funding to align with client objectives and long-term strategies.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and funding organizations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A degree in Political Science, Non-Profit Management, Technical Writing, Public Administration, Municipal Management, or a related field; candidates must meet one of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 3-4 years of relevant professional experience;

- OR a Master's degree in a related field with 1-2 years of relevant professional experience;

- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, including internships.
  • Ability to transform raw data into compelling narratives to secure funding.
  • Strong organizational, conceptual, and computer skills, including proficiency in:
- MS Office

- PDF editing tools

- Internet research

- Data visualization tools
  • Exceptional research, record-keeping, information tracking, and data entry capabilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, while also being a collaborative team player.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent reading comprehension, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant coursework in planning, environmental science, or public administration.
  • A data-driven approach with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Previous internships or professional experience in related fields.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new instructions effectively.
  • Flexibility to adapt data to meet various business requirements.
WHO ARE YOU? The ideal Community Development Specialist is a results-oriented individual with innovative ideas, exceptional interpersonal skills, and sound decision-making abilities when faced with complex challenges. This position requires a passion for hands-on project management, analytical thinking, and a genuine desire to assist communities in need.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? The successful candidate will engage in critical tasks such as preparing funding applications, managing grants, and monitoring projects for various agencies to support architectural and civil engineering initiatives. Responsibilities will also include conducting research and drafting environmental reports for federal and state agencies to facilitate project funding applications. The candidate is expected to participate in all phases of project management, from strategy development to funding research, implementation, and project closure. The Community Development Specialist will create persuasive narratives and serve as a creative consultant to help clients secure funding for deserving community projects.

WHO WILL YOU BE WORKING WITH? Externally, the Community Development Specialist will collaborate with clients from smaller and mid-sized local governments and funding agencies. Internally, you will work alongside our Community Development Lead and various architectural and engineering project managers from different locations, maintaining regular communication with funding agencies throughout the state.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. While in the field, staff may encounter adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, snow, sleet, and hail. Candidates may also be exposed to various environmental factors, including noise, dust, chemicals, and traffic hazards.
