Are you interested in becoming a skilled Overhead Crane Service Technician within the leading Lifting Business globally? Do you possess strong electrical and mechanical skills? Our service technicians are vital to our operations, working in a safety-oriented environment and handling mechanical components with ease. As a service technician, you will engage with 480 3-phase motors, diagnose issues with our cranes, and collaborate with clients and facility managers to ensure their requirements are met effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at various customer sites. Be available for on-call duties as part of the service office rotation and provide after-hours support.Perform on-site electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic diagnostics to identify equipment malfunctions and determine necessary repairs using visual assessments, testing procedures, and appropriate tools. Complete a general post-repair audit to ensure all safety features are operational or document deficiencies accordingly.
Record findings and make corrective recommendations to clients, including a written "Safety Notification" for any observed safety concerns, if applicable. Assess the client's intentions regarding repairs and inform the local service office of required actions.Consult with clients on all repair and safety-related matters, providing recommendations to enhance their material handling processes before leaving the job site. Identify items that require quotation.Complete and submit accurate electronic documentation using the company's digital tools for each service, obtaining client signatures and acceptance.Generate sales leads during service visits and report them to the service office, adhering to established protocols.Understand and comply with OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, and other industry regulations. Regularly refresh and update knowledge.
Accurately complete service reports and other necessary documentation, submitting them promptly in accordance with established guidelines.Maintain communication with the service office and Planner, following established practices.Ensure all company-issued equipment, vehicles, and assets are maintained in safe and proper working order. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles responsibly, notifying supervisors of any deficiencies.Keep a supply of forms, literature, inventory, and miscellaneous materials in the service vehicle, documenting usage or sales to clients.Adhere to all established safety protocols, including those set by clients.
Maintain company vehicle and uniforms in good condition.Participate in monthly safety meetings.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education: Associate degree in Industrial Electrical and/or Mechanical Technology or a related field, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair. Some electronic experience is beneficial but not required. Previous experience with cranes is an advantage.
Other Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Willingness to work at heights is essential. Flexibility to work varied overtime as needed by clients, be available for on-call duties as part of the service office rotation, and travel for work when necessary.
Salary: $18 - $55 per hour, with pay determined by skills, geographic location, internal equity, market analysis, years of relevant experience, degrees and/or certifications, and technical assessment scores.
Company Vehicle: Service Technicians are provided with a work truck and a gas card for business use. Candidates must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs, lift up to 50 lbs daily, lift up to 75 lbs occasionally, and lift 100 lbs rarely. This position requires frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, and overhead reaching. The role involves working indoors approximately 90% of the time and outdoors about 10% of the time, with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and heights.
