Position Summary

The Universal Banker II role is pivotal in providing exceptional customer experiences to both existing and prospective clients. Individuals in this position will demonstrate effective communication skills and possess advanced knowledge of the products and services available. This role is responsible for identifying referral opportunities that lead to outcomes reflecting outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively seeks opportunities to enhance customer relationships to meet both personal and branch objectives.
  • Drive sales confidently by fostering relationships, delivering excellent service, and leveraging product knowledge. Monitor and track sales and opportunities using customer information software.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of personal banking products, trusts, HSAs, IRAs, and business services.
  • Exhibit proficiency in non-real estate secured lending.
  • Develop a solid understanding of real estate secured lending.
  • Utilize needs-based questioning to accurately assess consumer needs, facilitating the development of customer relationships.
  • Refer clients to our banking partners, applying skills acquired through internal sales training.
  • Meet or surpass personal and team objectives as established.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making capabilities and conduct sales activities with minimal supervision.
  • Engage in onsite visits to clients to promote the Perks at Work Program & Merchant Services.
  • Participate in outbound teleconsulting to enhance and expand existing client relationships.
  • Accurately process customer transactions, ensuring balance and safeguarding against fraud.
  • Engage in community groups or events to create networking opportunities.
  • Contribute to bank-sponsored community initiatives.
  • Train and mentor new hires on teller and/or banker systems.
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Serve as relief and/or backup Universal Banker II at various Midland States Bank locations.
  • Exemplify and promote Midland States Bank's core values that align with the bank's culture.
  • Complete all assigned learning activities in a timely manner.
  • This role may require occasional travel for training and team meetings, as well as periodic travel to various locations as needed.
  • May necessitate working in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support for both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated background in sales and customer service.
  • This position requires registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and transport coin and currency bags as necessary (bags may weigh between 25lbs and 50lbs).
