Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess residents for swallowing and cognitive impairments.
  • Assist residents in achieving their cognitive and swallowing objectives.
  • Educate residents and their caregivers on relevant therapies.
  • Deliver skilled speech and language therapy evaluations and create personalized treatment plans to enhance client independence.
  • Implement augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for those with significant expressive and comprehension disorders.
  • Provide training and insights to clients, families, caregivers, and other professionals as a subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with other professionals for diagnostic swallowing assessments as directed by medical staff.
  • Exhibit proficient technical skills in accordance with current Speech Therapy standards.
  • Communicate any changes in residents' conditions effectively.
  • Maintain accurate billing records and clinical documentation.
  • Address family inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate training with Restorative Nursing and other care staff.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of residents by preventing abuse or neglect.
  • Uphold confidentiality and safeguard all patient information.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local legal and professional standards.
