Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at McLaren Health Care. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for implementing patient care services for individuals with speech, language, fluency, voice, swallowing, and cognitive disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' needs and identify appropriate speech and language therapy interventions
  • Provide patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards of professional speech and language therapy practice
  • Perform patient assessment and treatment related to speech deficits and disorders through the process of obtaining history, performing relevant systems review, and selecting and administering specific tests and measures to obtain data
  • Collaborate with patients and/or caregivers to establish goals geared toward their experiences, values, priorities, and desired outcomes
  • Establish an individualized plan of care and select therapeutic interventions that address the specific impairments identified in the evaluation and in accordance with physician orders
  • Conduct ongoing reassessment of patients and their response to treatment
  • Initiate and manage the discharge plan beginning at the first visit and continuing throughout treatment
  • Supervise and delegate to ancillary staff and students consistent with state laws and department policy
  • Complete legible, accurate, and clear documentation within the established timeframe identified in the department policy and procedure and in accordance with accreditation requirements and insurance regulations
  • Communicate with patients, family, caregivers, significant others, and members of the health care team to promote maximum benefit of care utilizing AIDET
  • Assess educational needs of patients, family, caregiver, or significant other and provide education to meet those needs
  • Participate in professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, including in-service meetings, workshops, and by reading current literature concerning scope of practice
  • Actively participate in quality improvement activities
  • Provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Comply with appropriate and approved safety standards
  • Function within scope of practice as defined by the state's practice act
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program of speech-language pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA)-OR- Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with completion of Certificate of Clinical Competency within three months of completing Clinical Fellowship Year
  • Current State Board of Speech-Language Pathologist licensure
  • BLS certification
  • One year of speech-language pathology experience (preferred)
