Job Summary

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development, risk assessment, and certification of safety-critical flight systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply advanced knowledge of systems and software engineering principles to ensure compliance with FAA airworthiness certification and safety-critical flight systems.
  • Perform system and subsystem risk evaluation and analyses.
  • Lead Design Assurance and Agile development initiatives, with a strong focus on meeting ARP-4761 and DO-178C/DO-254 standards.
  • Conduct System Safety Risk Assessments (SSRA) and Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan and execute airworthiness development efforts.
  • Manage requirements, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; lead systems design, integration, and technical risk identification.
  • Oversee Verification and Validation (V&V) processes to ensure system compliance and performance.
Must-Have Qualifications
  • Proven knowledge of systems/software engineering principles and practices.
  • Advanced understanding of FAA airworthiness certification and compliance criteria.
  • Expertise in safety-critical flight systems and system/subsystem risk evaluations.
  • Experience with ARP-4761, DO-178C/DO-254, and SSRA/FHA.
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic, with experience in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Thorough understanding of requirements management, systems integration, and V&V principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience with requirements management and system modeling tools (e.g., DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB).
  • Knowledge of mechanical design principles, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with INCOSE standards and familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516C.
  • Background in Aerospace and Defense Industry, with experience in complex development settings.
  • Ability to establish and track Technical Performance Measurements (TPM).
  • Familiarity with software development processes, Verification, Validation, and Quality Assurance.
Education and Skills
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant experience.
