Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for procuring requisitioned items or services, analyzing purchase requisitions, and making purchase decisions in accordance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Place orders to procure requisitioned items or services, ensuring accuracy in record keeping and daily management of purchase orders and deliveries.
  • Collaborate with department managers to clarify purchase requisitions, identify departmental needs, and refine specifications for future purchase orders.
  • Follow up on overdue and back-ordered supplies, communicating with requesters on delays in obtaining supplies and offering substitute products when applicable.
  • Follow proper channels to obtain purchase authorization according to company policy.
  • Work with accounts payable, vendors, and receiving personnel to resolve invoice matching errors and ensure invoices are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Solicit, receive, and analyze quotes and proposals, selecting the best value supplier and negotiating terms and conditions as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining database integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years' experience in procurement or a related field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
