Unit Description:

Marymount Hospital's 3 East/3 West Complex Medical Care and Neurology unit offers exceptional care for patients facing medical challenges such as strokes, seizures, heart failure, COPD, renal failure, and cardiac arrhythmias. As a Registered Nurse Resident, you will join a nurturing environment that emphasizes inclusivity and comprehensive training. You will work alongside experienced nurses who are passionate about mentoring new graduates.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Deliver direct nursing care under the guidance of a coach, adhering to established policies and protocols.
  • Prioritize patient care activities based on acuity, patient preferences, and resource availability.
  • Implement interventions to ensure continuity of safe and effective patient care.
  • Respond to health risks and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.
  • Seek supervision and assistance when necessary.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental personnel policies.
  • Utilize effective communication strategies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Document patient care in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN preferred.

Certifications:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required based on the unit.

Work Environment:

  • Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to function in a high-pressure environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Full range of body motion, including lifting and handling patients.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
  • Ability to work under stress and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
  • Medium work, requiring the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to Standard Precautions and utilize personal protective equipment as required.
