Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Mount Sinai Health System. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing and assisting in ultrasound examinations, providing technical support to radiologists, and maintaining and caring for all ultrasound equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ultrasound Examinations: Perform or assist in ultrasound examinations, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed and that patients are properly prepared and examined.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and care for all ultrasound equipment, including cleaning, adjusting, and reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Patient Care: Provide excellent patient care, including verifying patient identity, obtaining health status and medical history, and ensuring that patients are properly prepared for examinations.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, their representatives, and staff, explaining exams and instructions, and answering questions related to diagnostic, treatment, and prognosis.
  • Procedure Planning: Develop and modify procedure plans based on patient health status and medical history, using age and gender appropriate considerations, and adjusting scanning technique to optimize image quality and spectral waveform characteristics.
  • Image Analysis: Analyze sonographic findings to obtain comprehensive exams sufficient for physicians to direct patient management and render a diagnosis, performing measurements and calculations according to laboratory and ACR protocols and guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Minimize patient exposure to acoustic energy without compromising exam quality or completeness, and ensure that all diagnostic images and data are properly recorded and archived.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive high-quality care, and assist in the orientation and mentorship of new ultrasound personnel.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks, including scheduling examinations and initiating transportation, as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
  • Certification: Registered by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook), knowledge of office and administrative practices, skill in use of personal computers and software, ability to problem solve and make decisions, excellent written and oral communication skills, and exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and discretion.
