The Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Associate Project Scientist. This position is ideal for someone eager to contribute to the field of corneal genetics and regeneration.
Position Overview
Title: Cornea Genetics Laboratory Salary Range: The salary for this position is competitive and will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct innovative research aimed at identifying and characterizing genetic factors associated with inherited corneal disorders, particularly corneal dystrophies.
- Employ both established and novel methodologies, including cell-based approaches, to explore corneal biology and the mechanisms of disease.
- Utilize primary and immortalized corneal endothelial cells, epithelial cells, human iPSC-derived corneal cells, and animal models for in vivo research.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to merge clinical insights with fundamental scientific research.
- Oversee research operations, including mentoring post-doctoral researchers, research staff, and students.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- A PhD in Biological Sciences is required.
- A minimum of six years of laboratory experience is essential.
- At least ten publications in relevant fields are necessary.
- Six years of research experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in corneal imaging, molecular biology techniques, protein analysis methods (such as western blotting, immunohistochemistry, ELISA), image analysis, and confocal microscopy is highly desirable.
- Skills in bioinformatics analysis are preferred.
- Laboratory experience specifically in cornea genetics is advantageous.
