Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Refugee Support Service Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating programs aimed at assisting newly arrived refugees and eligible immigrants in achieving self-sufficiency through employment. This is accomplished by providing guidance in employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and offering various career advancement services.

The coordinator oversees staff and leads the Wilson Fish Program for the IRC Wichita office, in alignment with the Kansas Office for Refugees (KSOR) directives. Collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders is essential to develop tailored service and self-sufficiency plans that cater to individual client needs, utilizing a wide array of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other resources based on client eligibility and program specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

Familiarize and adhere to guidelines for services under the KSOR Wilson Fish Program while staying updated on relevant developments and public policies. Manage referrals for case management for ORR-eligible and TANF-eligible clients, participating in necessary case conference meetings to ensure continuity of care. Enroll clients in the Wilson Fish Program, assess their needs, and create Family Self-Sufficiency Plans (FSSPs) and Individual Employability Plans (IEPs) aimed at overcoming employment barriers and securing stable employment. Coordinate timely pre- and post-arrival services to guarantee clients have essential living resources such as housing, food, medical care, and transportation access, while orienting them to their new surroundings. Connect clients with employment, language acquisition, and vocational training opportunities in collaboration with the Economic Empowerment and Education teams. Work with internal and external partners to discuss caseloads, identify clients ready for job placement, and address any client participation issues. Provide timely reporting related to Wilson Fish case management. Engage in team and partner meetings and training to ensure effective communication and stay informed on developments. Supervise staff, overseeing active caseloads, delegating tasks, and providing coaching. Evaluate and report on staff performance while fostering a respectful, supportive, and inclusive environment for team members and clients. Ensure all interactions with clients, referrals, follow-ups, and record-keeping uphold the highest standards. Monitor client progress to support the achievement of established goals, address challenges, and ensure optimal resource utilization. Document each client interaction according to program requirements, inputting client information into databases and assisting with tracking and reporting as necessary. Ensure compliance with all contractual and reporting obligations. Lead quality data collection across all programs, producing reports and impact data to provide insights to internal and external partners. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in the human services sector required; at least 2 years of resettlement experience strongly preferred. Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations is highly desirable. Prior experience in people management is a plus.

Strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking abilities; adept at cultivating internal and external relationships. Demonstrated capacity to foster an organizational culture reflecting core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead collaboratively with individuals from diverse cultures and skill sets. Proven effectiveness in communication within a multicultural environment. Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of multitasking, prioritizing responsibilities, and managing time efficiently. Attention to detail and accuracy in work outputs. Proficient in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in languages spoken by client groups is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); capable of utilizing the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving. Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

A blend of standard office settings, remote work, and field time within the service delivery area to fulfill the outlined responsibilities. May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

US BENEFITS: The organization offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
