Job Title: Learning and Development Specialist

Job Summary:

The Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for designing and delivering staff development programs focused on student success. This position will also lead the development and implementation of the Student Success Summits in support of the Title III Grant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Deliver Staff Development Programs: Design and deliver workshops and trainings for faculty on best practices in student success, including success coaching, instructional strategies, instructional technology, instructional modalities, and assessment practices.
  • Lead Student Success Summits: Work closely with the Title III Grant director and the director of Learning and Development to design and implement the Student Success Summit each year.
  • Provide Instructional Coaching: Provide instructional coaching for faculty to enhance teaching practices that ensure student success in the academic environment.
  • Develop Curricula and Presentations: Develop curricula and deliver presentations in support of major grant and student success initiatives.
  • Manage Projects: Manage projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality and accessibility standards.
  • Stay Current on Emerging Educational Technologies: Stay current on emerging educational technologies and best practices to ensure the college remains at the forefront of pedagogy/andragogy practices in support of student success.
  • Implement Assessment Instruments: Implement appropriate course and program assessment instruments and effectively compile resulting data.
  • Produce Learning Materials: Produce learning materials in a variety of formats and modalities to support teaching and learning needs.
  • Represent the Learning and Development Department: Represent the Learning and Development department and/or the Title III Grant on college committees as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree: Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of experience in professional development, organizational development, training, and/or teaching.

Benefits:

  • Health Insurance: Health insurance will become effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment, provided that insurance enrollment forms are submitted.
  • Retirement Plan: The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is provided and required for all full-time employees.
  • Vacation Time: Only 12-month employees are eligible to accrue vacation time on a monthly basis.
  • Sick Leave: Full-time employees accrue 8 hours per month per contract length, with a maximum accrual of 90 days.
