Position Overview:


The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) operates under the clinical supervision of Physicians and mid-level providers, as well as the Nurse Manager, engaging in a collaborative approach to deliver comprehensive care and treatment to patients.

The LPN is responsible for providing clinical assistance to the medical team, adhering to the scope of practice as defined by the New York State Department of Education. The individual must effectively manage a demanding workload while maintaining high accuracy levels.

This role necessitates exceptional customer service skills, ensuring positive interactions with patients, their families, fellow staff members, physicians, management, vendors, and the public.


Essential Competencies:
Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care tailored to the age and needs of patients in both primary and specialty care settings.


Exhibits the capability to gather, document, and retrieve data reflecting the patient's condition within electronic medical records and other data systems.

Shows compassion and concern for all patients.


Employs a patient-centered approach to care, complying with all NCQA's Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) standards for nursing practice, which includes data collection, patient education, and follow-up on tests.

Ensures accuracy and thoroughness in charting documentation and billing for each patient encounter, including nurse visits.

Demonstrates skills in phlebotomy and laboratory testing in accordance with the standards set by the FF Thompson Hospital laboratory. Capable of executing provider orders accurately.

Exhibits the ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare providers, staff, and Practice Management.

Displays leadership qualities by actively supporting the goals and objectives of the practice and the healthcare system.

Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information, including that of patients, staff, and the healthcare organization.

Successfully completes the Hospital orientation program and department-specific training.

Embodies the CARES values consistently.

Qualifications:
Current New York State LPN license is mandatory.

Infection Control Certification is required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is essential.

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience in a medical practice is preferred.

Experience in physician office nursing, including administering injections and performing phlebotomy, is preferred.
