Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Animal Services Officer to join our team at Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. As an Animal Services Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing animal control ordinances, responding to animal-related complaints, and providing education to the public on animal welfare and control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce Animal Control Ordinances: Patrol assigned areas to identify and address animal-related issues, issue citations and warnings to pet owners, and confiscate animals in violation of animal control ordinances.
  • Respond to Animal-Related Complaints: Investigate complaints regarding animals, respond to emergency situations, and remove dead animals from roadways.
  • Provide Education and Outreach: Educate the public on animal control ordinances, policies, and procedures, including proper control and care of pets.
  • Collaborate with Other Agencies: Work with other law enforcement agencies, animal shelters, and community organizations to promote animal welfare and control.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, one year of specialized or technical training, and one year of experience working with animals.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Euthanasia Certification, Crematory Operation Certification, and a valid driver's license.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and physical stamina to perform duties in various weather conditions.
Work Environment

The work environment for this position will be in a variety of settings, including outdoors, in animal shelters, and in offices. The employee will be exposed to various weather conditions, animal bites, and diseases associated with animals.
