Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team at the Interior Community Health Center in Fairbanks, AK. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical staff in delivering high-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for clinical encounters, including patient screening and collection of health history
  • Coordinate and follow-up on patient care, ensuring timely and accurate patient flow
  • Perform basic laboratory functions, CLIA waived lab tests, and clinical procedures within scope of practice
  • Assist providers with procedures and patient follow-up, including obtaining prior authorizations and completing patient forms/documents
  • Refill patient medications according to clinic protocol and assist in pre-visit preparation
  • Assess patient paperwork and determine necessary actions, including reviewing health records and completing paperwork within scope of abilities
  • Enter and track patient recalls, including childhood and adult immunizations, future blood work, and abnormal paps
  • Operate and maintain medical equipment according to manufacturer instructions and clinic protocols
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or Equivalent
  • One-year recent experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Current National Medical Assistant Certification preferred
  • Cultural competence in working with diverse populations required
Working Conditions

This position is based in Fairbanks, AK, and may require travel within the Fairbanks North Star Borough and Denali Borough. A valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance are required.
