Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares patients for consultations, gathers assessment information, and ensures readiness based on specific requirements.
Supports in examinations, treatments, and other clinical procedures.
Facilitates laboratory tasks, screening assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.
Handles incoming calls, providing information, directing inquiries to the appropriate staff, or initiating a triage process for medical personnel.
Conducts follow-up calls to remind patients of their appointments.
Welcomes and guides patients, vendors, and visitors.
Registers patients by confirming that their records are current and accurate.
Updates the computer system and patient charts as necessary.
Manages patient referrals through insurance and other healthcare providers.
Collects payments from patients and issues receipts when applicable.
Organizes and maintains patient records.
Oversees inventory and orders supplies as needed.
Education and Experience:
Completion of a medical assistant program accredited by recognized organizations or a program from an accredited post-secondary institution.
Certification/Licensure:
Current CPR or BLS certification is required within a specified timeframe.
Training in medication administration and pharmacology is essential for performing injections.
Special Physical Demands:
The physical demands outlined are considered essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Manual dexterity is necessary for operating equipment, performing procedures, and using communication devices. The ability to lift and assist patients is required.
While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, handle, feel, reach, talk, and hear.
The employee may occasionally need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.This role requires the employee to exert varying amounts of force regularly and occasionally.
