Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Specialist to join our team at the University of California, Santa Cruz. This is a remote position that requires the development and application of computational tools to analyze and interpret various research data. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of bioinformatics methods, applications programming, web development, and data structures.

About the Role:
The Bioinformatics Specialist will be responsible for applying complex bioinformatics concepts to design, develop, modify, debug, and evaluate software programs and web tools. They will also implement workflows submitting consensus genomes to analysis tools and conduct bioinformatics programming and testing of new algorithms that interact with other related databases.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Comprehensive understanding of bioinformatics methods, applications programming, web development, and data structures
- Proficiency in bioinformatics programming design, modification, and implementation
- Familiarity with relational databases, web interfaces, and various operating systems

What We Offer:
- Salary: $91,300 - $106,000/year
- Benefits: Mid-level benefits package
- Schedule: Full-time, Fixed 100% schedule, 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri, Day shift
