About the Role

The University of Iowa is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Scholarship Coordinator and Financial Aid Associate to join our team in the Office of Student Financial Aid. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in coordinating the mid-year and annual scholarship reviews, managing scholarship correspondence, reviewing and processing appeals, and tracking scholarship metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Scholarship Reviews: Manage the mid-year and annual scholarship reviews, including reviewing and processing appeals, and tracking scholarship metrics.
  • Manage Scholarship Correspondence: Coordinate and manage all scholarship correspondence, including letters, emails, and phone calls.
  • Provide Financial Aid Guidance: Advise enrolled students and parents about scholarships and financial aid programs, including application procedures and eligibility requirements.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Department: Serve as the primary point of contact for the Athletic department staff with financial aid questions and complete duties required for administering athletic scholarships and awards.
  • Develop and Implement Financial Aid Programs: Assist in the development and implementation of financial aid programs and policies to attract outstanding students and help them finance their course of study.
  • Manage Administrative Procedures: Coordinate and manage administrative procedures and policies to increase efficient and effective operations for the project, program, unit, department, or college/division.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Experience in Higher Education: Experience working in a higher education, post-secondary academic setting or in another sector dealing with budgeting, counseling, and/or education, typically six months to one year.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies: communicating for effective relationships, accuracy and attention to detail, data gathering and analysis, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ Years of Experience: 2 or more years of experience in a higher education, post-secondary academic setting.
  • Knowledge of University Policies: Demonstrates a basic proficiency level in the knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Financial Aid Knowledge: Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the knowledge of and the ability to develop and implement financial aid programs and policies to attract outstanding students and help them finance their course of study.

  • Competitive Salary: $42,500 to commensurate with competitive benefits.
  • Hybrid Work Arrangement: This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment.
