Position Overview

The Senior Estimator for Engineering Projects plays a crucial role in the development of comprehensive estimates and proposals essential for engineering and design-build construction initiatives. This role involves preparing and presenting fixed-price bids, proposals, unit costs, and quantities across a diverse array of project types and clientele.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile material and labor expenses for client proposals related to construction initiatives.
  • Evaluate and integrate quotes for bonds and insurance into the estimate for thorough review.
  • Facilitate solicitation and assessment of small and disadvantaged businesses.
  • Conduct subcontractor solicitation and pre-qualification processes.
  • Assess and incorporate pricing for specialty and standard equipment and materials into the estimate.
  • Prepare and distribute bid packages to subcontractors.
  • Present estimating data during site and pre-bid meetings.
  • Conduct studies on subcontractor labor and market conditions, providing recommendations based on findings.
  • Develop project summary schedules to guide timelines.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy.
  • Support pre-construction services on client estimates and joint venture assessments.
  • Formulate and present estimating strategies and plans.
  • Research historical costs and maintain updated databases.
  • Provide initial pricing for indirect and general conditions.
  • Assess fees, contingencies, and escalation factors, offering recommendations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.
  • Analyze and price value engineering proposals for submission.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, along with 3 years of direct project estimating experience.
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
  • Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively, with strong creative and analytical thinking skills, and the capacity to make informed decisions swiftly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ConEst, and K-Base software.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification is required.
