Job Summary

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our surgical service line, you will play a vital role in evaluating pre and post-operative patients, managing post-operative and critically ill patients, and contributing to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide direct clinical services for pre-operative and post-operative patients, adhering to institutional guidelines and evidence-based clinical practice standards.
  2. Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations, documenting findings in accordance with hospital requirements.
  3. Order diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects to patients, family, staff, and healthcare learners.
  4. Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on patient clinical status, documenting procedures in accordance with hospital requirements.
  5. Participate in on-call rotation and interface with patients, monitoring and instrumentation equipment, directing and educating others in performing the same functions.
  6. Formulate and implement treatment plans for acute illness management in collaboration with primary supervising physicians and document in medical records and narrative summaries.
  7. Assess patients for changes in status, instituting appropriate interventions, including emergency interventions to stabilize patients.
  8. Participate in quality/performance improvement activities and serve as a clinical expert and education consultant to nursing, healthcare teams, and the community.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing, or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistants program with a current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
  • 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia or Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP, FNP, and WHNP).
