Network Infrastructure Specialist

The Network Engineer will collaborate with the IT department to design, implement, maintain, and support the growing network infrastructure at Senior Living Hiring. This includes designing and developing scalable, maintainable, and highly available network architectures that meet our objectives.
The engineer will work closely with the Systems Engineer to ensure maximum performance of our high-traffic network infrastructure while maintaining system integrity. This involves overseeing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network complexities depending on the location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Configure and install various network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, WAPs, and virtualization.
Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
Manage and monitor all installed systems, infrastructure performance, and ensure system availability and reliability.
Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies for all network equipment.
Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
Provide 2nd and 3rd level support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
Collaborate with vendors, AASC Operations, and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
Investigate network faults in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources.
Secure network systems by enforcing policies established by the CIO and defining and monitoring access.
The support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy.
Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
MCSE, CCNP, or proven experience
Deep understanding of networking protocols and OSI or TCP/IP model
Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools
Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Physical Requirements:
Physical demands are moderate. Requires standing, walking, sitting, and kneeling for possibly extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of items weighing approximately 30 to 50 pounds. Vision and hearing must be correctable to normal range. Must have manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to provide moderate level of PC and IT network maintenance.
