Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team as a Mammography Specialist. This role requires a strong foundation in radiologic technology, with a focus on mammography and breast health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and analyze bone density measurements using a bone densitometer, preparing test results for physician interpretation.
  • Conduct correlative breast examinations, documenting scars, moles, and pertinent findings, and discussing the importance of annual clinical breast examinations with patients.
  • Perform mammography procedures in a technically proficient manner, including proper application of breast compression, positioning, and special mammography views to maximize diagnostic quality.
  • Prepare patients for mammography, ultrasound, or bone densitometry procedures, ensuring their physical safety and comfort.
  • Perform equipment quality control procedures using radioactive sources, evaluating results to ensure equipment performance meets acceptable standards.
  • Administer PO and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy, assessing patients for potential risk factors prior to administration.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience as a registered mammography technologist with additional competencies in specialized imaging procedures.
  • Active 15 mammography credits every 3 years as defined by the Mammography Quality Standard Act.
  • ARRT Breast sonography and/or bone densitometry certification required.
