Job Summary
As a Patient Observer at Prisma Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. You will be responsible for constant observation and documentation of patient behavior, reporting any risks or changes to the healthcare team. Your attention to detail and ability to remain vigilant will make a significant impact on our patients' lives.Key Responsibilities
- Provide constant 1:1 observation of assigned patients, documenting and reporting any risks, changes, or problems observed.
- Complete safety sweeps as per policy when observing patients at risk for self-harm.
- Ensure patients are not unattended and notify/engage assistance from unit staff and/or Security if patients try to leave the floor.
- Give and receive hand-off communication (report) regarding patient assigned to observe.
- Assist with meeting patient needs, including turning and positioning, patient-centered diversional activities, feeding, ambulation, patient transfers, and transports.
- Be in attendance of patients at all times, including bathing, toileting, and sleeping, when observing patients at risk for self-harm.
Requirements
Education - High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience - No previous experience required.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Required Licensure - None required.
CNA or PCT certification preferred.
