Description

Vincennes University is on the lookout for a passionate and seasoned professional to take on the role of Chief Athletics Officer. The ideal candidate will spearhead our prestigious athletics program, managing nine sports teams while collaborating closely with coaches, staff, and student-athletes to maintain a legacy of excellence in both athletic performance and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Athletics Department in line with the University's mission and core values.
  • Oversee and mentor coaches and staff within the VU athletic programs.
  • Ensure adherence to all NJCAA regulations, including eligibility criteria, recruitment protocols, and standards of sportsmanship.
  • Develop and oversee the Athletics Department budget, focusing on fundraising initiatives and revenue generation.
  • Cultivate an environment that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
  • Work in partnership with University administration, faculty, and staff to enhance the student experience and contribute positively to the campus community.
  • Act as the representative for Vincennes University Athletics in public engagements, media interactions, and community outreach.
  • Report directly to the University President, providing regular updates on the activities and initiatives of the Athletics Department.
  • In collaboration with the University President and VU Foundation, lead fundraising campaigns to support athletic scholarships and operational needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in college coaching and/or athletics administration, ideally at the NJCAA Division I level.
  • Proven knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations, including the processes for determining and submitting student-athlete eligibility.
  • A strong commitment to fostering student success, both academically and athletically.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in the Athletics Department, University faculty and staff, and external partners.
  • A demonstrated history of successful fundraising, budget oversight, and strategic planning within athletics administration.
  • Experience in promoting a culture of excellence and sportsmanship.
