POSITION OVERVIEW:


As a seasoned engineer under the guidance of the Engineering/Safety Supervisor, you will independently assess, analyze, and execute essential technical engineering tasks related to mechanical and systems operations.

Your extensive experience and judgment will be pivotal in navigating a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.

Your responsibilities will encompass evaluations of systems and operations involving hypergolic propellants, cryogenics, pneumatics, and life support systems.

This role is classified as a union position and is non-exempt, with a competitive hourly wage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the preparation, assessment, and execution of system designs to align with overarching project goals.

Conduct engineering calculations, evaluations, and studies to support daily operations involving cryogenic substances, pressurized gases, and hypergolic missile propellants.


Collaborate with the Engineering/Safety Supervisor to develop detailed estimates for additional work requests that necessitate thorough analysis of time and costs.


Ensure compliance through Engineering oversight during Mechanical Integrity Inspections of hazardous systems, documenting and addressing any deficiencies.

Manage subcontractors throughout various project phases, including schedule updates and coordination of assigned tasks while providing status reports to management.


Execute Process Safety Management functions as mandated by OSHA, maintaining records of relevant documentation.

Generate and modify engineering drawings and figures using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Serve as the Configuration Manager for critical systems.

Draft Engineering Field Instructions (EFI's) to guide Field Technicians in executing operations outside standard procedures.

Offer technical guidance to engineers or technicians in the execution of operations, EFI's, repairs, or troubleshooting as required.

Must possess the ability to obtain and sustain a security clearance if necessary for the role.


Familiarity with and adherence to the following standards and codes: ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, AWS welding standards, CGA compressed gas standards, DOT regulations for portable pressure vessels, Military Standards regarding propellants and propellant systems, and AFSPCMAN Range Safety regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, accompanied by 5-8 years of relevant experience. An advanced degree is preferred.

Possession of a PE License.


Demonstrated extensive knowledge of various concepts, practices, and procedures in propellants or related areas is essential.

A solid background in the design and testing of aerospace ground support systems and facilities is advantageous.

Prior engineering experience is required, with a strong emphasis on hypergolic propellants, cryogenics, life support systems, and high-pressure gases. Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) is also beneficial.

Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and AutoCAD is expected.

Exceptional verbal, technical writing, and communication skills are essential.
