Position Overview:
The Natural Gas Trader plays a pivotal role in identifying and executing physical gas trading opportunities across the Gulf Coast and adjacent regions. This position is essential for enhancing our portfolio and delivering economic advantages to the organization. The successful candidate will analyze market trends, execute trades, and devise strategies to optimize profitability while managing associated risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct comprehensive analyses of market conditions, pricing trends, and supply-demand dynamics for natural gas in the Gulf Coast and nearby areas.
  2. Formulate and implement strategies to leverage market opportunities and meet financial objectives.
  3. Stay informed on regional and global energy market developments and evaluate their implications for the region.
  4. Identify emerging markets and opportunities that present growth potential in the Gulf Coast.
Core Duties:
  1. Execute physical gas trades to support the company's natural gas business goals in the Gulf Coast and surrounding areas.
  2. Negotiate trade terms with counterparties, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  3. Collaborate with various teams within NRG to create unique product offerings and deliver exceptional service to customers and partners.
  4. Assess market risks associated with trading activities and develop risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to price fluctuations.
  5. Monitor and manage trading positions in alignment with risk management policies.
  6. Track and report trading performance, including profit and loss metrics.
  7. Analyze trading outcomes and provide insights for future trading strategies.
  8. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.
  9. Maintain accurate records of trading activities for audit and compliance purposes.
  10. Collaborate with NRG staff to optimize the company's market position and strategy.
  11. Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations as well as internal NRG policies.
Required Skills:
  1. Proficient in trading platforms and market analysis tools.
  2. Strong analytical abilities to interpret market data effectively.
  3. Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  4. Ability to perform under pressure and make informed decisions in a dynamic environment.
  5. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements for gas trading.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in natural gas trading or a related area focused on physical gas markets.
  2. Deep understanding of natural gas markets, financial products, and physical pipeline flows within the Gulf Coast and surrounding regions.
  3. Established relationships with key counterparties are a significant advantage.
