Key Responsibilities:
As a psychiatrist, you will spearhead multidisciplinary treatment teams. Your role will involve diagnosing mental health conditions, prescribing medications, and administering therapeutic interventions for patients with various psychiatric disorders, including mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and co-occurring conditions. You will engage with patients regularly, oversee medication management, provide psychotherapy, assess care levels, and advocate for optimal treatment pathways within healthcare systems. Additionally, you will gather medical histories and conduct diagnostic tests.
Core Duties:
- Prioritize exceptional patient care by: 1) delivering evidence-based psychiatric practices; 2) fostering patient engagement and understanding in their treatment; 3) ensuring timely access to care; 4) supporting initiatives aimed at improving care standards and clinical outcomes.
- Manage a typical caseload of 18-24 patients weekly, with increased patient volume when collaborating with nurse practitioners or physician assistants. Inpatients are generally seen daily, while residential and PHP patients are typically seen bi-weekly.
- Complete necessary documentation accurately and promptly, maintaining thorough patient records.
- Collaborate with team members and management to enhance service delivery and patient care, treating all colleagues with respect and professionalism.
- Advocate for patients by providing timely documentation regarding their care needs and participating in insurance reviews to optimize treatment duration.
- Communicate effectively by: 1) sharing clinical information clearly; 2) requesting necessary resources for care; 3) providing and receiving constructive feedback respectfully.
- Demonstrate leadership by: 1) striving for improved outcomes and program quality; 2) ensuring compliance with legal and educational standards; 3) enhancing the efficiency of your practice.
- Meet quality metrics by focusing on relevant clinical outcomes and integrating innovations to enhance patient care and organizational efficiency.
- Adhere to established policies, quality improvement standards, and safety protocols.
- Foster positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and families, consistently demonstrating empathy and respect in all interactions.
- Engage in professional development through educational opportunities, literature review, and participation in training sessions.
- Ensure all responsibilities are executed effectively and appropriately for the patient population served.
- Participate in supervision and evaluation processes to identify growth opportunities.
- Contribute to community education and marketing initiatives as needed.
- Serve as a mentor and clinical supervisor for trainees and staff.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required.
- Completion of an accredited medical school and residency program, along with any necessary fellowships.
- Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is mandatory.
- Must hold a valid medical license in the states where you will practice.
- Current BLS/CPR certifications and relevant registrations are required.
- All certifications must remain up to date.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission standards) is essential.
