Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at Mercy Health. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and code medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work with healthcare providers to resolve coding discrepancies and improve documentation
  • Collaborate with billing partners to develop efficient coding processes and reduce denials
  • Stay up-to-date on applicable regulations, laws, and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Provide education and training to healthcare providers on coding and documentation best practices
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Prefer one year of experience coding professional services or two years in the medical field
  • Post-high school course in medical terminology is preferred
  • Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A) or other equivalent coding certification preferred
Work Environment

The Medical Coding Specialist will work in a hybrid environment, with opportunities for remote work and flexible scheduling. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve productivity goals.
