Job Title: Assistive Technology and Accessible Educational Materials Specialist

Join the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio as a highly skilled Assistive Technology and Accessible Educational Materials Specialist. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring access for all individuals with disabilities by providing specialized training and technical assistance related to assistive technologies, accessible educational materials, and maintaining a clearinghouse of AT devices, large print, and braille books for loan.

About the Role

As a key member of the AT&AEM Center team, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues on projects, consult on assistive technology and accessible formats for educational materials, connect with professionals across the nation, state, and locally to implement best practices, and develop products and resources in the areas of education, assistive technology, and/or accessibility.

Responsibilities
  • Provide trainings and resources on assistive technology and accessible educational materials, including accessible formats.
  • Demonstrate the use of assistive technology and how it increases access for people with disabilities.
  • Inform local and state agencies on guidelines and best practices of AT and AEM.
  • Present on topics surrounding assistive technology, accessibility, accessible educational materials, and OCALI resources across a variety of settings.
  • Engage in professional development and collaborative opportunities provided through online training, in-person trainings, conference attendance, and in-person meetings as needed.
  • Support the implementation of AT and AEM grant activities at the direction of the grant directors.
  • Participate in a variety of work groups or meetings surrounding topics in AT, AEM, and accessibility.
  • Ensure OCALI products are created in accessible formats and collaborate with internal accessibility team and product owners to ensure accessibility.
  • Support the production of accessible content across a variety of media and platforms, including videos, presentations, and documents through OCALI.
  • Work with the production center to collaborate on the development of accessible educational materials for students as well as provide alternate formats for internal requests.
  • Collaborate with state and national conference team members to increase general conference accessibility.
  • Consult or provide high-quality technical assistance via multiple mediums in the area of AT or AEM.
