Position Overview:

We are in search of a Heavy Civil Estimator to enhance our accomplished team and contribute to our mission of constructing enduring foundations for future generations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Estimation: Generate precise and competitive cost estimates for grading, paving, and bridge construction projects by scrutinizing project drawings, specifications, and related documentation. Formulate preliminary project timelines.
  • Project Evaluation: Perform comprehensive assessments of prospective projects to evaluate feasibility, risk, and profitability. Collaborate with the project management team to synchronize project goals and strategies. Develop a project risk matrix and devise risk mitigation plans.
  • Vendor Coordination: Engage with vendors and subcontractors to solicit and assess bids, ensuring all estimates reflect current pricing and availability of materials and labor. Conduct quote comparisons and provide recommendations for selection.
  • Client Engagement: Interact with clients throughout the bidding process to clarify project specifications and foster strong professional relationships. Present and elucidate project proposals to clients, designers, and operational teams.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive records of all estimations, bids, and initial project specifications to ensure transparency and accuracy during project initiation. Assist in managing historical cost databases and estimating software.
  • Team Collaboration: Work in close partnership with project management, engineering, and construction teams to ensure smooth transitions from estimation to execution.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimation within the heavy civil construction field, particularly with grading, paving, and/or bridge projects.
  • Proficient in estimation software (e.g., Agtek Gradework, Highway, Underground and Materials, AutoCAD, HCSS HeavyBid, and/or Bid2Win, Bluebeam Revu).
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong grasp of construction processes, materials, and current industry standards.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and negotiation abilities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of professional client interactions.
  • Able to manage multiple bids and projects concurrently under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel within local areas.
  • Recent experience with DOT estimating.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Design-Build projects.
  • Familiarity with AASHTOWare.
  • Knowledge of cross-section and mass haul analysis.
  • Previous field experience in surveying and/or project management.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, and stand; capable of frequently lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
  • This position requires in-person work.
  • Professional, business casual office environment.
