About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Safety Specialist to join our team at YellaWood. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of safety and compliance across our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Culture: Provide leadership and guidance to our teams to establish a strong safety culture and promote a culture of compliance.
  • Safety Audits and Compliance: Conduct regular safety audits at our locations to verify compliance with regulatory requirements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Action Planning and Documentation: Develop and implement action plans to address audit findings and maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance with our Safety Management Plan and regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Policy and Procedure Enforcement: Work with plant management to enforce safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Incident Investigations and Compliance: Represent the site in incident investigations and complaints, and recommend measures to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Communication: Interact with regulatory agencies, such as OSHA, and communicate with owner and subcontractor safety personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Training and Meetings: Organize and conduct safety meetings and training sessions at all levels of the organization to promote a culture of safety and compliance.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A 4-year college degree (B.A. or B.S.) and a minimum of 3 years' experience in Environmental Health and/or Industrial Safety, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30, OSHA 511, and/or OSHA 501 Certification(s) preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of lumber manufacturing environment risks and applicable Health & Safety/OSHA rules, experience conducting safety audits within heavy manufacturing sites, and experience in assisting in workers' compensation claims process.
