Position Overview:
Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., renowned for its YellaWood brand pressure-treated pine, is on the lookout for a Purchasing Intern as part of its Summer Internship Program. This program offers a unique chance to delve into the lumber sector and gain firsthand experience in a professional environment. Participants will engage in networking opportunities, hands-on projects, and community service initiatives, all designed to enrich their understanding of the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Acquire knowledge of Great Southern Wood Preserving's item code system and product terminology, utilizing these skills to navigate various software applications.
• Become acquainted with the Random Lengths Mid-Week and Weekly Market Report, understanding the significance of zone pricing and leveraging zone spreads effectively.
• Ensure timely management of orders, amendments, shipping notifications, and related documentation to maintain accurate records.
• Evaluate vendor performance based on previous purchases to guarantee timely order fulfillment in line with contractual agreements.
• Address inquiries from different departments regarding urgent matters such as correcting invoicing errors, order logistics, and market data.
• Identify inefficiencies and redundancies in processes, proposing improvements where feasible.

Qualifications:

• Current enrollment as a Sophomore or higher, pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook.
