Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Labor and Employment Counsel to join our team at Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a pivotal role in driving our legal and compliance efforts.

About the Role

This full-time in-house position involves navigating complex employment law landscapes across North America, including the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean. You will be responsible for managing employment-related risks and ensuring our HR practices and policies are compliant and best-in-class.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor, implement, and certify regulatory HR compliance policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Internal Audits: Conduct regular internal audits and spot checks to ensure compliance procedures are followed.
  • Compliance Advice: Provide legal advice and counseling on a broad range of legal issues, aiming to enable the company's objectives while managing legal and compliance risk.
  • Policies and Strategies: Recommend corporate policies and strategies that promote the company's goals while complying with regulations.
  • Labor and Employment Legal Support: Collaborate with HR on employment law issues, handle employment litigation matters and claims, and advise on potential complex business transactions.
Requirements
  • A Juris Doctor degree from a nationally recognized law school.
  • Licensed to practice law and active bar membership in good standing.
  • At least 4 years of general labor and employment litigation experience, preferably with some in-house experience.
