ROLE SUMMARY

The Nutritional Services Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall dining experience for elderly residents at our PACE center. This position is integral to maintaining high standards of food service quality, ensuring that meals are prepared, served, and cleaned up efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare the dining area for each meal service, including setting tables with necessary items such as napkins and silverware.
  • Provide attentive service by taking and delivering meal orders while addressing any concerns with a positive demeanor.
  • Ensure all kitchenware and dining utensils are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Assist the Cook in meal preparation, ensuring adherence to dietary requirements and individual preferences.
  • Prepare light meals, including salads and snacks, as well as daily nourishment options.
  • Organize and label all food items and ingredients for easy access and inventory management.
  • Store prepared food items at appropriate temperatures to maintain freshness prior to service.
  • Participate in the thorough cleaning and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a hygienic environment.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in food preparation and service is required, preferably in healthcare or social service settings.
  • A valid Food Handler Card is essential.
  • Current BLS certification is required prior to employment.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail in documentation.
  • Ability to follow various instructions presented in different formats.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling practices, particularly concerning dietary restrictions.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods is required.
