As part of the engineering team focused on enhancing technology for hydraulic power tools, you will report directly to the head of the hydraulics advanced engineering team.
Your responsibilities will include utilizing tools such as Matlab/Simulink, CFD, and various numerical modeling techniques to analyze and optimize hydraulic systems across a range of products.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Act as the primary engineering resource for simulation and analysis in hydraulic systems.
Employ simulation and analytical tools to design and enhance pumps and valves, optimize system configurations, and maximize overall system performance.
Develop tailored analytical tools to forecast individual component and system performance using Matlab/Simulink, CFD, Excel, and other software.Assist in the creation of custom testing equipment to validate numerical models.
Provide clear engineering insights to Engineering Teams, Marketing, Project Leaders, and Global teams to facilitate informed decision-making.
Utilize motor curves, pump curves, and system resistance curves to predict and enhance performance.
Establish testing protocols for components and assemblies within the project scope with minimal oversight.
Deliver comprehensive data analysis to support design recommendations.
Serve as a technical expert in your areas of specialization and offer guidance/mentorship to colleagues.
Collaborate effectively with the advanced engineering technical team and provide technical direction on complex hydraulic challenges.
Willingness to travel up to 10% (including domestic and international travel).
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in mechanical engineering with a focus on Modeling & Simulation or a related field.
Proven experience in developing predictive system-level mathematical models/simulation tools in MATLAB, MathCAD, Python, or similar software.Preferred Qualifications:
Strong understanding of high-pressure hydraulic systems, including critical design characteristics for components.
Extensive experience with CFD tools such as Ansys CFX/Fluent.
Proficient in 3D CAD software including ProE, Solidworks, NX, or similar.
Broad mechanical knowledge encompassing engineering materials, mechanical properties, and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials.
