Job Summary:

This position oversees the continuum of care for patients undergoing surgical oncology procedures. The Medical Director-Surgical Specialties-Surgical Oncology-Region provides strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for a region-wide surgical oncology team, ensuring the delivery of highly reliable and best-in-class care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based, best-practice cancer surgery care models for patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to improve oncologic surgery care across the region.
  • Establish and monitor standards for cancer surgery care, ensuring consistency across Intermountain facilities.
  • Develop and implement communication processes to inform and connect oncologic surgery providers and teams.
  • Drive results for key performance metrics in oncologic surgery, including patient experience and CMS metrics.

Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active Utah Medical Licensure or in process of obtaining licensure.
  • Basic Life Support Certification for healthcare providers.
  • Three years of experience leading successful improvements in clinical settings.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Three years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
  • Holds medical staff privileges at assigned hospital.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or other business-related field.
  • Experience working in a complex health system.
  • Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.
