Job Title: Histology Technician

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Burke, Virginia.

Job Summary:

The Histology Technician will be responsible for orienting and embedding pathology specimens to ensure optimal sectioning. This role will also perform clerical and computer tasks to support department quality operations and routine/special staining procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Embed quality cassettes per hour.
  • Resolve problems and communicate with staff/management.
  • Maintain optimal technical quality in specimen preparation.
  • Complete continuing education units annually.
  • Organize quality assurance materials for pathology peer review.
  • Communicate STAT cases and assist with workflow.
  • Position blocks in the microtome and ensure section quality.
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last five years.
  • 60 semester hours of academic credit with 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry.
  • Four years of experience required.
  • Histotechnician (HT); Histotechnologist (HTL ASCP) certification.
