Job Description

The Library Senior Associate - Collections Access will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional customer service to the Roanoke College community.

Working collaboratively with staff, faculty, and students, this individual will facilitate access to Fintel Library and College Archives collections, provide reference and research assistance, and contribute to facility operations.

The successful candidate will perform circulation services, manage reserves, and maintain stacks, while also enhancing access to the College Archives through digitization and resource fulfillment.

This position requires working some evenings and weekends on a regularly scheduled basis.

As part of the Fintel Library team, the Library Senior Associate - Collections Access will participate in promoting library services and resources, assessing user satisfaction, and contributing to academic success through a proactive and collaborative approach.

Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be analytical and detail-oriented, and demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Circulate physical resources and collect fines and fees
  • Resolve and/or refer users' concerns and library account issues
  • Create and maintain circulation records for equipment and realia
  • Process booking requests for physical audiovisual resources
  • Shift and/or shelf collection resources
  • Coordinate Roanoke-Hollins courier service deliveries
  • Process print and electronic course reserves
  • Assist with facility operations and coordinate student assistant work and schedules
  • Digitize, enter, and/or correct metadata in the local repository for archives and special collections resources
  • Reformat finding aids for public access
  • Organize, inventory, and rehouse archives collections
  • Assist in creating exhibits of and fulfilling requests for archives and special collections resources
  • Provide reference assistance to users, referring complex research questions to library liaisons

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Direct customer service experience
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
