Position Overview:
As a Sous Chef, your primary duty is to assist the Chef de Cuisine in managing the daily operations of the kitchen. This includes performing tasks such as working on various line stations as needed, aiding in service efficiency, participating in inventory processes, contributing to restaurant opening or closing tasks, and supporting line staff to ensure kitchen readiness and food excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of kitchen operations, including inventory oversight, supply ordering, and kitchen logistics management.
- Uphold a professional restaurant image, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to uniform and appearance standards.
- Assist with payroll management, ensuring labor reports are accurate and up-to-date.
- Oversee shifts, which encompass daily decision-making, product quality assurance, and cleanliness maintenance.
- Develop schedules and ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
- Train kitchen personnel and evaluate their performance, acting as a motivator and driving force.
- Ensure compliance with culinary standards and regulations among all staff members.
- Contribute to menu innovation.
- Embrace creativity in all aspects of your role; be open to proposing new ideas.
- Adhere to the Management Expectations Manual, which will be provided during training.
Essential Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of ingredients and techniques across various cuisines, particularly focusing on Western European and Mediterranean styles.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the food and beverage industry within the last decade.
- Professional and confident verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Flexibility in scheduling, with the potential for morning, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Advanced knife skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in Google Drive, Excel, and Word.
- 2-4 year Culinary School degree.
Compensation and Benefits:
Annual salary: $65,000 - $70,000
