The Cell Manufacturing Engineering team at Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to contribute to the development and design of battery cell manufacturing equipment.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tesla's world-class manufacturing facilities, where you will work on designing and developing a new generation of leading-edge, high-speed, ultra-high-scale automated manufacturing equipment.

As a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for taking equipment from a rough concept to full production, managing equipment suppliers or internal design teams through development and deployment milestones, and developing line layouts.

You will also work with industrial engineering to develop material flow strategy within the factory, identify utilities needed and utility distribution strategy, and coordinate with other Engineers to manage complete manufacturing line projects with multiple work centers.

Responsibilities:

  • Take equipment from a rough concept to full production
  • Manage equipment suppliers or internal design teams through development and deployment milestones
  • Develop line layouts
  • Develop station requirements
  • Work with industrial engineering to develop material flow strategy within the factory
  • Identify utilities needed and utility distribution strategy
  • Coordinate with other Engineers to manage complete manufacturing line projects with multiple work centers
  • Complete process failure mode and analysis
  • Oversee equipment installation and coordinate with building and utilities team
  • Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new processes

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of related experience developing and launching new manufacturing equipment
  • Multiple new equipment installations
  • Large manufacturing lines implementation
  • Experience with industrial engineering concepts, such as line balancing and timing charts
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Understanding of manufacturing equipment safety systems
  • Strong familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Experience with AutoCAD
