About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at HNTB. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality designs and projects for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and modify design calculations, technical reports, and engineering plans for assigned projects.
  • Work closely with project managers to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery.
  • Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Leverage technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software.
  • Mentor, train, and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to deliver high-quality work and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Experience delivering transportation infrastructure design projects in Maryland, Virginia, and/or DC.
  • Experience supporting design-build and/or P3 projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant experience in Water Resources, Land Development, or Site Civil.
  • Working knowledge of Microstation, Geopak SS10, and/or ORD software.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply DEQ and state DOT design guidelines, policies, and practices to address complex design challenges.
