We collaborate with numerous municipalities and jurisdictions, operate highly regulated facilities across multiple locations, and employ over 1,000 individuals.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a qualified Load Safety Coordinator to enhance our team. This role is essential for overseeing the safe movement of both customer and company vehicles, as well as pedestrian traffic, in and around the facility's tipping area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage incoming and outgoing traffic in the tipping area, ensuring safety and efficiency in line with established protocols.
- Assist customers with directional cues and provide backup support when necessary, while remaining vigilant for potential traffic hazards.
- Utilize established hand signals and flags to communicate safe movement directions for vehicles and pedestrians.
- Employ a whistle to capture attention or initiate necessary actions, and use two-way radios to report any hazards to equipment operators.
- Guide vehicles to park safely, maintaining a secure distance from others.
- Ensure a safe barrier is maintained in the tipping area for all end-dump tractor/trailers.
- Prevent any form of scavenging in the tipping area.
- Deliver excellent customer service by addressing inquiries or directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Report hazardous materials to the Supervisor for proper handling and documentation.
- Regularly communicate with Supervisors/Managers regarding safety concerns or hazards.
- Perform fire watch duties throughout the shift.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to work under pressure and manage stressful situations while remaining adaptable.
- Assertiveness to effectively manage situations as they arise.
- Understanding of safety regulations, operational procedures, and company policies.
- Commitment to building knowledge and expertise relevant to the job function.
- Effective communication skills with peers, supervisors, and customers.
- Proficient in using two-way radios or similar communication devices.
Qualifications:
- Valid identification for employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Ability to follow established procedures and protocols.
- Capability to differentiate between various commodities.
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English and/or Spanish.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, navigating rough or slippery terrain in a potentially hazardous environment with heavy equipment and vehicular traffic.
- Capacity to handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with exposure to outdoor conditions. The role may involve frequent changes in equipment and operational needs.
