Position Overview

The Power Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the development and assessment of technical specifications to formulate fundamental electrical engineering solutions for various client initiatives, which encompass:

  • Electrical Power Distribution Systems
  • Single-Line Electrical Diagrams
  • Load Analysis for Electrical Systems
  • Inventory of Power Equipment (Transformers, Switchgear, Motors, UPS, etc.)
  • Classification of Areas for Electrical Safety
  • Additional Electrical Schematics (Lighting, High Tension, etc.)

This role reports to the Senior Power Systems Engineer or the Electrical Engineering Discipline Manager. All completed technical documentation undergoes a review process by senior leadership prior to client presentation.

The Power Systems Engineer is actively engaged in the design workflow, which may necessitate site visits to client locations and performing physical activities such as walking, standing, climbing, and lifting.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory
  • EIT certification is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in power distribution, utility collaboration, or control system design is preferred
  • Proficient in:
    - Microsoft Office Suite
    - AutoCAD (2-D and 3-D CAD experience is advantageous)
    - Electrical design software

Educational Background/Certifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is essential
  • An advanced degree is a plus
  • FE certification is preferred, while PE certification is advantageous

Work Schedule:

  • This is a full-time role, operating Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary. The design workflow may involve physical tasks such as walking, standing, climbing, and lifting.
