Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation and upkeep of excavating and loading machinery. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of equipment at designated transfer stations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately and efficiently load vehicles.
  • Conduct and document daily equipment inspections.
  • Report operational issues and breakdowns to the Field Supervisor.
  • Perform daily servicing, greasing, and cleaning of machinery.
  • Utilize the scale system to maximize vehicle weight compliance.
  • Complete all required training and certifications issued by the company.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1 year of experience in vehicle loading.
  • Proficient in operating Front End Loader (CAT 950) and Grapple Excavator (Volvo EC220) or similar equipment.
  • Able to work various shifts as necessary.
  • Effective communication skills with Field Supervisors, fleet managers, drivers, and client representatives.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Flexible to work a changing schedule based on operational demands.

Physical Requirements:

This position operates in a dynamic environment, requiring sensitivity to changes in goals and priorities. Responsibilities include balancing, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, and visual acuity. The role involves heavy work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily based outdoors, subject to varying noise levels and temperature conditions. Interruption may occur periodically.
