Job Title: Plant Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Manager to join our team at Newport Sand & Gravel Co. Inc.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of our plant and equipment, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Batching and loading concrete to meet production demands and customer needs
  • Managing labor hours and ensuring employees are following company policies and procedures
  • Monitoring job performance and productivity, and fostering a team-building environment
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of paperwork, including driver logs, fuel usage reporting, and mileage logs
  • Maintaining plant and yard general housekeeping, including inspections and maintenance
  • Overseeing or completing all maintenance needed for the safe and efficient operation of the assigned plant
  • Ensuring compliance with EPA regulations and performing daily and monthly SPCC plan inspections
  • Responsible for up-to-date SDS sheets for all products on site and performing safety huddles with staff
  • Accident investigation and reporting as necessary, and notifying supervisor and Safety Director immediately
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school education or equivalent
  • Previous experience in batching, dispatching, delivery of concrete, and supervisory skills
  • A valid CDL Class B Driver's License and a driving record within the tolerable insurability limits
  • Ability to lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds, and to inspect all areas on mixers and plant
  • Ability to climb ladders and perform multiple tasks under stressful situations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
