Employee Assistance Program Counselor

MTA, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor to join our team. The successful candidate will provide confidential counseling services to employees who are struggling with personal or professional issues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct assessments and referrals for employees who are mandated to our EAP program as a result of being found to be in violation of company policies or regulations.
• Perform weekly clinical supervisions, consultation, and case conferencing, participate in tripartite, probationary, conjoint, and other case conferences associated with compliance and reinstatement issues for mandated cases.
• Evaluate the facility's Intake Assessment and treatment plan to gauge the appropriateness of planned interventions.
• Provide intake evaluation, referral, and case management support for voluntary clients presenting with general mental health issues, including domestic violence.
• Monitor treatment involving client contact to ensure that treatment plan objectives and goals are met.
• Evaluate employee's work readiness, including mental status examination, drug use assessment, and treatment provider's recommendations.
• Testify at Arbitration Hearings about EAP procedures, non-compliance, and clinical protocol.
• Complete special projects delegated by Work Life Services Clinical Director, Clinical Manager (EAP Supervisor) or management.
• Interface with operating departments, Labor Relations, and other NYC Transit Departments.
Requirements:
• Master's degree from an accredited college with a major in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychiatric Nursing, Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) or CEAP eligible.
• Minimum of three years full-time paid experience providing counseling and/or psychotherapy.
• New York State Education licensure and/or certification in mental health and/or substance abuse required at time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Medical Family Therapist.
• Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of chemical dependency and mental health disorders.
• Working knowledge of Domestic Violence issues and services.
• Certification as a Substance Abuse Professional, as defined by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), is desired at hire, or must be obtained if hired.
