Job Summary

The New York State Education Department's Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation is seeking a skilled Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Assistant to join their team in the Brooklyn VR District Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake interviews to assess eligibility for financial assistance and monitor training records.
  • Verify employment through site visits to rehabilitation facilities, schools, and training centers.
  • Authorize necessary medical diagnostic examinations and prepare financial and statistical records and reports.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications outlined below:

  • A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or vocational rehabilitation; or
  • 60 semester college credit hours and one year of qualifying experience providing direct services to physically, mentally, or learning-disabled adults or adolescents in a rehabilitation program or facility.
